Entry requirements

For entry to reception in September 2023 we shall admit children with birthdays between 1/9/18 and 31/8/19. All children will be offered a full time school place.  By law children must start full-time education no later than the term following their 5th birthday.

 You can apply between 1st November 2022 and 15 January 2023.

You should receive information leaflets from your child's nursery or pre-school in the autumn term prior to your child’s admission to YR. If you do not receive one, you can contact Surrey County Council by phone:  0300 200 1004

Late Application

If you wish for your child to join our school  outside of the normal admissions round, you should apply to Potters Gate School directly. 

In-Year Admission Arrangements At Potters Gate Primary School , we co-ordinate our own in-year admission arrangements. Therefore, if you would like your child to attend our school outside the normal admissions round (i.e. for requesting a place in Years R or 3 you should apply directly to us. Information on how to apply is provided below. Please contact the school if you would like any of this information, including the application form, to be provided in a hard copy format. To apply:

• Please complete the in-year admission form that can be found below and if applicable a Supplementary Information Form (SIF). Please email your form/s to: info@potters-gate.surrey.sch.uk

• In addition to the form/s, you should also provide evidence of your address. The following documents are permissible: Council Tax Bill, Signed Tenancy Agreement or Solicitor’s letter confirming completion of purchase AND one of the following – Recent Utility Bill, Benefits Statement, or Bank Statement.

• If your child is new to the UK, please provide the date they arrived on pg.1 of the form and attach evidence of this. If your child is a British Citizen, please attach evidence of their passport, any visas, and relevant Home Office documentation. Outcome of the application:

• You will be notified of the outcome of your application within 10 schools days if possible, but 15 at the latest. If you application is unsuccessful, we will provide the reasons for refusal and the process for making an appeal.

• We will notify the Local Authority of every application and outcome as soon as possible but within 2 working days at the latest.

• Please note that your child cannot be placed onto a waiting list without making an application.

2024/25 Admissions Policy Consultation

 

The Good Shepherd Trust is the Admissions Authority for Potters Gate C of E Primary School, Potters Gate, Farnham, Surrey, GU9 7BB.

 The Trust is consulting on a proposed change to the 2024/25 admissions policy for Potters Gate C of E Primary School and would like to hear your views. The Trust has a statutory duty to consult on admissions arrangements if we intend to make a change.

 The consultation period will run from the 15th December 2022- 26th January 2023.

 Information about the consultation will be provided on the Trust www.goodshepherdtrust.org.uk/1043/admissions and school websites www.potters-gate.surrey.sch.uk/Admissions/ during the consultation period.

 What is the proposed change?

 The proposed change to the policy is that the following criterion is introduced into position 6 of the over-subscription criteria for Year 3 admissions: Children attending Folly Hill Infant School at the time of application.

 Rationale:

 In past years, parents of pupils at Folly Hill Infants have expressed concern about not being able to access a place at Potters Gate in year 3. This has made them make an ‘In Year Admission’ request to Potters Gate during years R, 1 or 2, if places are available or to join the waiting list, to ensure a place in year 3 at Potters Gate. This has meant that Folly Hill are losing pupils in-year. This change will stabilise the numbers on roll at Folly Hill as parents can be more reassured of a place at Potters Gate in year 3 through the normal admissions process.

 The headteacher of Folly Hill and the CEO of the Kite Academy Trust are supportive of this change.

 There were 12 first choices from Folly Hill in 2022, 6 were not offered places at Potters Gate.

 Comments are not being sought on any other area of the policy or associated documentation.

 How can I respond to the consultation?

 Please ensure that your response is entitled: 2024/5 Admissions Policy Consultation.

 You can submit a free text response.

 However, the Trust Board would find it helpful if you could include your name and the name of the school to which you are submitting a response. Also, if you can indicate whether you will be affected by the proposed change and if so, in what way.

 What happens next?

 Please note that you will not receive an individual response to your submission and no changes to the proposed policies will be made during the consultation period. After the consultation has closed, all responses will be collated and presented to the Trust Board during the first half term of the spring term 2023. The Board will then decide whether to proceed with the proposed change as well as determining the admission arrangements for all other Trust schools for which no changes are proposed. Once determined, the final admission arrangements for all schools will be placed on the websites of the individual schools and sent to the respective Local Authority and Diocese of Guildford.
